By sharing my writing (Poetry in particular), a life long dream, I hope to inspire others to go after their dreams and goals.

One Day

One Day
By Valerie Maldonado

On a sunny day quite like today
We will reflect back on this year of pain
The losses will bring a tear
The remembered chaos will recall the fear
One day we will wonder how it came to be so bad
How all parts of society made us sad
There will be understanding in hindsight
Forgiveness we hope, resolutions, and change
Still one day
We will also be filled with nostalgia
For a year we would rather forget
Gratitude will pour down like rain
For every life that still remains
We will smile at all the tenderness
The courage and creativeness
Of all who sought to celebrate,
lift up, and demonstrate
Love, hope, grace, kindness
Those who championed for whatever cause they believed in
One day
On a sunny day like today
We will remember and be glad
Close our eyes and feel sad
Yet for all the moments apart
In a year so very dark
There will be a longing for
One last laugh, one last call
We will burn our masks
Stomp our feet in a victory dance
We will take better care
Of ourselves and those we hold dear
One day
On a sunny day quite like today
We will wish for these days
Before our loved ones went away
One day
