I have noticed whenever I have a conversation with family or friends about where we stand in life, the person we are the toughest on is ourselves.
We didn't do something right OR we did it right but not long enough OR maybe we continued with something (work, relationship, pursuit of a dream) for too long. Sound familiar? Many times it's the opposite and we regret something we didn't do.
Which one is more regrettable, doing or not doing?
My answer is neither. You cannot live your life regretting a decision you made in the past. You did the best you could with the information you had and the circumstances you were in and the feelings you felt at THAT time.
Yes we make mistakes. Yes things might have turned out differently if we had decided the other way.
The perennial "what if?"
Don't be so hard on yourself. If you find you are stuck in a rut and focusing too much on past actions, change your mindset.
Find a way that works for you to become more focused on the present. Celebrate all the positive aspects of your life. Everyday is a new day. It's up to you to make it a great day.
