Quagmire

So much can happen in a person's life in a span of a few minutes,  an hour,  a day,  a month or a year.

What you thought you knew about yourself can change and leave you questioning your values, principles and beliefs.

A traumatic event can leave you feeling depleted and unsure. Scared and doubtful. Wary of one's standing in life.

In a situation that leaves both sides hurting, guilt can find a home and attempt to paralyze you.

Doing the right thing is not always the best thing. What is the right thing? Every situation is unique. Every person is different.

I recently experienced a situation such as this. One I never imagined myself going through. That's the thing about life, it's unpredictable.

How do you get past all the feelings? The doubts?  The questions? The what ifs?

What is a quagmire?  Merriam-Webster dictionary defines it as a situation that is hard to deal with or get out of.

So what to do first?

You must view the situation exactly as it is. Not how you would like it to be. Not how you imagined it to be. You must view it realistically. Accept that it is what it is. Only then can you make an informed decision.

That decision may hurt. A lot.

But staying stuck in a quagmire is not beneficial to anyone.

Decide. Act. Grieve. Forgive. Breathe.

Blame and regret will not change the outcome but can affect your life in a very negative way.

There is much to be learned from the difficulties and challenges of life. Work through the emotions, don't try and mask them.

Then move forward.
